How I Found Homeopathy:
A Bottle of Arnica
by Kari Barron
I was in my late thirties, running my own decorative painting business, spending entire days with my arms over my head painting designs and finishes on ceilings. By the end of a day of doing that, my neck and shoulders were wrecked — the kind of sore that doesn't sleep off overnight. Someone suggested using Arnica montana and told me to take it on my way home at the end of the painting day. I was hopeful but cautious. The first day after taking the Arnica on my way home was eye opening. I was able to work the entire day without the usual stiffness and pain, and the day after that, and the day after that. That was my introduction to homeopathy, and I never looked at my medicine cabinet the same way again.
I've spent years since then studying what's actually happening with remedies like that one, and I want to walk you through the basics — because homeopathy gets written off as "just sugar pills" by people who've never looked past the surface.
Where this actually started.
Homeopathy isn't new. It goes back to a German physician named Samuel Hahnemann in the late 1700s. He was translating a medical textbook when he noticed something: substances that caused certain symptoms in a healthy person could, in a highly diluted form, relieve those same symptoms in someone who was sick. He called it "like cures like," and he spent decades testing it — on himself, his family, and volunteers — carefully recording every physical, mental, and emotional symptom each substance produced. Those tests are called provings, and they're still the foundation of how a remedy gets matched to a person today. Not a guess. A recorded pattern, matched to your pattern.
Is it just placebo? Here's the honest answer.
This is the question I get often, and I'm not going to dodge it. Practitioners have long pointed to remedies working in animals and in babies too young to understand what they're being given as proof this isn't just belief doing the work — those cases don't fit neatly into "you got better because you expected to." That's a real observation practitioners have made for a long time, and it's part of why I trust what I've seen in my own practice and my own body. I'll also tell you straight: controlled research on this is mixed, and plenty of it finds no measurable difference from placebo. I'm not going to oversell you on a debate that's genuinely unsettled in the research world. What I can tell you is what years in practice, and longer using it personally, have shown me — remedy after remedy, client after client.
Simple remedies for simple, everyday things.
Not every remedy needs to be complicated. Nux vomica is one recommended often — it's the go-to for stomach discomfort of all sorts. One remedy, one clear pattern, one clear match.
What these remedies are actually made from.
This part surprises people. Remedies come from plants, minerals, and yes — even healthy organ tissue. A remedy meant to support liver function might start with liver tissue from a healthy source, diluted down through a process that leaves none of the original substance behind, but the frequency and energetic pattern it carried does. That's the whole model: your body isn't being handed a substance to force a reaction. It's being handed information, and it uses what it needs and sets the rest aside. No forcing. No fighting a reaction. Just your body being reminded how to do what it already knows how to do.
Everything God made carries a frequency.
Color, sound, taste — your body is reading all of it as frequency before your mind ever puts a label on it. A color can settle you before you know why. A sound can put you on alert before you've decided anything is wrong. That's not a New Age idea — that's just how God built our senses to receive His world. He filled creation with frequencies for us to interact with, and homeopathy works on that same principle: matching a frequency your body is missing with one it needs. That's what makes it such a powerful tool while still being so gentle. It doesn't force anything on you. It speaks a language your body was already designed to understand — the way a loving Father would hand you exactly what He built into you all along, right when you need it.
That's the piece I want you to remember: God designed your body to thrive. It hasn't forgotten how — something is just standing in the way. Exodus 15:26 calls Him "the LORD who heals you." I believe that includes giving us tools, like this one, that work with the body He built instead of against it.
Next time, I'll walk you through what happens when you move past single remedies like Nux vomica into layered, potentized protocols — like the ones I use every day in my own MEM and GLP-Forte routine — and how that process retrains hunger signals, stress responses, and metabolism instead of just masking them.
